In a recent post, Nate Silver investigated who had the restaurant review business cornered in NYC: Yelp or Michelin. Surprisingly, he found that there is a highly significant correlation between the two company's ratings. He also found an interesting significant positive coefficient on Yelp cost (as measured by dollar signs), such that restaurants receive higher ratings on Yelp if they have more dollar signs. Either way, it's good to know that my California-bred reliance on Yelp will serve me well here when choosing from the myriad restaurant options in this city.
